Tai

Tai's life was a bit rough growing up, his mother left when he was five. She left because she didn't really want to raise a child, Tai was an accident that happened when she was drunk with her boyfriend. She only kept the kid because her boyfriend wanted the baby with her and she didn't know she hadn't wanted to be a mother yet, once Tai was born she quickly found out she didn't want him. Countless times she found herself almost hurting Tai, she had poisoned his dinner which had made him really ill, but he recovered from it. She had dunked his head under the water during his baths, almost drowning him... But Tai's father had stopped her, he never knew she had been trying to get rid of Tai, he always thought it was an accident. Eventually she just stopped acknowledging Tai's existence and started cheating on her husband, going out late and not cooking for Tai when his father was out at work. Tai had learned to fend for himself at that time, since his mother didn't love him. Eventually his mother was asked to marry a rich man, one of the men she was seeing and that was the last Tai ever saw of her, she had left them to marry the rich man.

After his mother left, his father started to drink more and more, becoming a heavy alcoholic. His father used to drink so much that he would beat Tai senseless, blaming him, saying it was Tai's fault that his mother left. His father was rarely sober, always had a bottle in his hands. Tai endured the pain of returning home everyday, getting beaten every time he walked in the door... Kids mocked Tai for his injuries inflicted by his father, so Tai got picked on by them... Eventually his rage engulfed him and the kids bullying him were no match. Tai won fights, leaving the foe on the ground with substantial injuries. He became violent due to his father's brutality.

But... His grandfather was his only savior, around him Tai could be happy and cheerful. His grandfather owned an antique shop, where Tai spent most of his time at. Once Tai turned 12 he left his father and ran straight to his grandfather, crying about all the pain his father caused him. His grandfather held him close and told him he never had to go back, that he could stay here with him.

After he moved in with his grandfather he had to learn how to manage the shop, how to take care of the antiques. There were only a few customers, since there were bad rumors going around about the shop after Tai started to help out there. The antique shop had been his grandfather's pride and joy, it was well taken care of, but since the rumors were going around they had hardly any business. People started bad mouthing Tai's grandfather in front of him and Tai's aggression came out once again, he hurt anyone who spoke ill of his grandfather or the antique shop. Tai didn't know he was getting himself into trouble, he had thought he was protecting his grandfather's name.

After awhile a familiar face had walked into the shop, carrying a gun. It had been one of the older kids who had been beaten up by Tai for insulting his grandfather and all of his effort in his shop. The kid had shaky hands and had pointed the gun at Tai, his finger at the trigger ready. Tai's grandfather had been in the shop and saw the gun, he had moved to get the attention of the boy with the gun. The kid saw the old man and grinned a sadistic smile as he looked at Tai. His grandfather had moved and positioned himself between the shooter and Tai and was shot down. The kid had delight in taking what little Tai had left... His motive was to kill Tai, but once he had seen his golden chance to get his revenge and get back at Tai he had taken it...

Tai's grandfather had protected him, yet... It left Tai shattered... The antique shop had gotten boarded up by the police and Tai was returned to his father by the cops. He hadn't wanted to return to his father, he never wanted to go back. His grandfather told him he never had to go back... So Tai ran away, living in the antique shop without anyone knowing, he left it boarded up, only detaching one board so he could sneak in and out. He didn't have any cash, nor could he find any place to work at, so he had to resort to stealing what he needed to survive...
